Instead of saving links to your desktop and or flash drives use Vurb, which is a website where you can link and save information you need that is important. Vurb allows you to create boxes to put within them information you might need later instead of searching keywords on Google to figure out where your sources came from.
Some people like to jot there ideas or plans on paper, but others like to put it in the form of a map, to do that you need mind mapping software. As you know I like the word free, I am all for free software, especially when cannot afford it, so you want a good alternative. I have found and worked with a few Mind Mapping Software that I thought were great, I guess it just comes to you, and what you think might work for you.
